An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Dental Receptionist to join a well-established mixed dental practice in Camden, London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Dental Receptionist or Reception Supervisor who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the smooth running of a busy front-of-house team.
The practice provides a broad range of dentistry, including general, cosmetic, orthodontic and implant treatments, creating a varied and interesting environment to work in.
The Role
As Head Dental Receptionist, you will take responsibility for overseeing the front-of-house operation and supporting the wider reception team to ensure patients receive an excellent experience from the moment they contact the practice. You will be a key point of contact for both patients and the clinical team, helping to keep the practice organised, efficient and running smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

The Role
- Position: Head Dental Receptionist
- Location: Camden, London
- Type: Mixed NHS & Private
- Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
- Hours: 8:45am – 5:45pm, 40 hours per week
- Days: Monday–Saturday, with alternate Saturdays
- Saturday: Day off in lieu when a Saturday is worked
- Salary: From £15.50 per hour, depending on experience
- Software: Dentally
- Start Date: Flexible – happy to wait for the right candidate
As Head Dental Receptionist, you will take responsibility for overseeing the front-of-house operation and supporting the wider reception team to ensure patients receive an excellent experience from the moment they contact the practice. You will be a key point of contact for both patients and the clinical team, helping to keep the practice organised, efficient and running smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing and supporting the front-of-house and reception team.
- Managing the appointment diary and ensuring surgeries are utilised effectively.
- Handling patient enquiries and resolving queries in a professional and helpful manner.
- Supporting the team with complex or escalated patient queries.
- Ensuring the reception area provides a welcoming and professional experience.
- Coordinating effectively with clinicians and the wider dental team.
- Helping to maintain smooth day-to-day practice operations.
- Supporting and mentoring reception team members.
- Ensuring practice procedures and standards are consistently followed.
- Contributing to a positive, supportive and collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a senior dental reception or supervisory role.
- Ideally, experience within a dental or medical practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy reception environment.
- Confidence handling patient queries and resolving issues professionally.
- The ability to lead, support and motivate a team.
- A friendly, approachable and professional manner.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Experience using Dentally would be advantageous.
