An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Manager or HR Generalist to join a private dental practice in a key HR and team leadership position.

Working closely with the Practice Manager, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day management of a small team, overseeing staff processes, and ensuring the practice remains compliant with employment legislation, safer recruitment requirements, DBS processes and CQC standards.

This role would suit an organised and confident HR professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and is comfortable managing a broad range of employee relations and HR responsibilities.

👥 The Role

This is a hands-on position combining HR, employee relations and general team management.

You'll take responsibility for supporting the practice team and ensuring staffing, HR processes and compliance requirements are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities
Manage a small team, including organising staff rotas, annual leave and sick leave
Conduct and support appraisals and performance reviews
Manage and support disciplinary processes
Organise staff training and team meetings
Liaise with locum agencies and workers to ensure the practice is adequately staffed
Provide advice and support on employee relations matters
Support disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management
Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures and employment documentation
Work alongside the Practice Manager to oversee inductions, probation and mandatory training compliance
Support employee wellbeing initiatives
Coordinate occupational health referrals where appropriate
Support return-to-work plans
Ensure compliance with current employment legislation
Maintain safer recruitment and DBS processes
Support compliance with CQC standards

Essential

✔ Previous experience as an HR Manager or HR Generalist
✔ Strong employee relations experience
✔ Experience managing disciplinary, grievance and capability processes
✔ Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
✔ Knowledge of safer recruitment and DBS processes
✔ Understanding of CQC compliance
✔ Strong organisational skills
✔ Ability to manage competing priorities effectively
✔ Confident communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Professional, reliable and proactive approach
