Dental Recruit Network is working closely with an established private dental practice in Balham to recruit an experienced Head Dental Nurse to lead its large nursing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head Dental Nurse or Senior Dental Nurse ready to take the next step into a leadership role within a modern, well-established private practice.
Importantly, you won't be expected to manage everything alone. The practice offers a supportive management structure, a dedicated administration day each week and a genuine commitment to investing in its nursing team.
THE ROLE
As Head Dental Nurse, you will be responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring the smooth and efficient running of clinical operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting a large team of Dental Nurses.
- Managing staff rotas and ensuring appropriate clinical cover.
- Organising and conducting regular nursing team meetings.
- Working closely with the Clinical Director to oversee clinical workflows and nursing standards.
- Attending weekly management meetings and contributing to operational improvements.
- Taking responsibility for clinical compliance, CQC standards and regulatory requirements.
- Acting as Cross Infection Control Lead and maintaining high standards of infection prevention.
- Overseeing clinical audits, risk assessments and compliance documentation.
- Coordinating staff inductions, training and ongoing professional development.
- Supporting clinicians with advanced treatments, including dental implants, Invisalign and orthodontics.
- Managing clinical stock, ordering and associated budgets.
- Up to £20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Full-time, permanent position in established private dentistry.
- Dedicated Head Nurse administration day every week, on a consistent day.
- Dedicated Clinic Manager on site and full Clinical Management support.
- All CPD costs covered by the practice.
- Two full training days annually.
- Three team activity days per year, including events such as Sports Day.
- Annual CPD, BLS and First Aid training.
- Digital training account to support your professional development as a GDC registrant.

- 40 hours per week, across five days.
- Usual shifts between 8:00am and 6:00pm.
- One to two Saturdays per month.
- One late finish until 7:00pm per month.
- GDC-registered Dental Nurse with valid professional indemnity.
- Minimum of two years' experience as a qualified Lead Dental Nurse.
- Previous experience as a Head Dental Nurse or in a senior nursing position.
- Proven experience assisting with dental implant procedures.
- Experience with Invisalign and orthodontic treatments.
- Strong knowledge of CQC requirements, clinical compliance and cross-infection control.
- Experience managing clinical audits and risk assessments.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Confident managing, motivating and developing a large nursing team.
- A proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
